" A company may HAVE a new product or service that will change the way we do things, or it may be on the cutting edge of a whole new business model." is Qualitative Components of IPO Valuation... so "roll on the 29th" in that way! http://www.investopedia.com/articles/financial-theory/11/how-an-ipo-is-valued.asp#axzz1mMPpIgSz
roll on the 29th =========== Microsoft WOA news was first out via RNS on 06 January 2011 and the SP two weeks before was 400p and two weeks after was 500p ... so we also have to consider the possibility of "already priced in" ... but I may be wrong!
ARM is under 'Sideways Trend' for the last 11 months or so... it needs to break that 600p resistance and hold there (which is so far not success) before go north ... http://buyupside.com/makingmoney/images/pricepatternsso_small.gif http://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/prices-and-markets/stocks/exchange-insight/technical-analysis.html?fourWayKey=GB0000595859GBGBXSET1 http://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sidewaystrend.asp#axzz1mMPpIgSz
In January 2011, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Microsoft announced that Windows 8 would be adding support for ARM microprocessors. (RNS Number : 0214Z - ARM Holdings - 06 January 2011) http://graphs.lse.co.uk/GetGraph.asp?gcode=ARM&mode=ShareCharts&r=0.5389148881658912&p=9&ma=9&t=2 At the Microsoft Developer Forum in Tokyo on May 23, 2011, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced that the next version of Windows would be released the following year. On June 1, 2011, Microsoft officially unveiled Windows 8 and some of its new features at the Taipei Computex 2011 in Taipei (Taiwan) On August 15, 2011, Microsoft opened a new blog called "Building Windows 8" for users and developers. Microsoft unveiled new Windows 8 features and improvements on September 13, 2011, day one of the BUILD developer conference. In December 2011, Microsoft held an event in San Francisco to demonstrate Windows Store, through which all Metro-style Windows 8 apps will be sold. At the end of the event, Microsoft announced that the public beta (or consumer preview) will be released sometime in February 2012, along with the Windows Store Beta. On Feburary 3, a Chinese site PCbeta revealed some screenshots of the Consumer Preview (Build 8220) and shows that there is no more start orb. More screenshots of a beta candidate build 8220 were leaked on 6 February 2012. Microsoft has confirmed that the consumer preview will be released at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 29 and information will be uploaded on Microsoft News Centre.

What started out as an operating system for one person working solo with productivity software is now the foundation of a wide array of hardware and software technologies, a spectrum of connected Windows products, and an incredibly flexible approach to computing. With Windows 8, we have reimagined Windows from the chipset to the experience—and bringing this reimagined Windows to the ARM® processor architecture is a significant part of this innovation. Expanding the view of the PC to cover a much wider range of form factors and designs than some think of today is an important part of these efforts. Windows on ARM enables creativity in PC design that, in combination with newly architected features of the Windows OS, will bring to customers new, no-compromise PCs."

" Windows on ARM software will not be sold or distributed independent of a new WOA PC, just as you would expect from a consumer electronics device that relies on unique and integrated pairings of hardware and software. Over the useful lifetime of the PC, the provided software will be serviced and improved. Around the next milestone release of Windows 8 on x86/64, a limited number of test PCs will be made available to developers and hardware partners in a closed, invitation-only program. These devices will be running the same branch of Windows 8 on x86/64 as we release broadly at that time. These are not samples or hints of forthcoming PCs, but tools for hardware and software engineers running WOA-specific hardware. The Windows Consumer Preview, the beta of Windows 8 on x86/64, will be available for download by the end of February. This next milestone of Windows 8 will be available in several languages and is open for anyone to download. And for us, it’s like having an extra 300 million smartphones. It’s certainly nice to have. " http://allthingsd.com/20120213/seven-questions-for-arm-ceo-warren-east/?refcat=enterprise
FEBRUARY 13, 2012 AT 6:26 AM PT http://allthingsd.com/20120213/seven-questions-for-arm-ceo-warren-east/?refcat=enterprise "....In the computing world then, the competition is really Intel and AMD x86 chips.... "
....how well will Windows work on the ARM-based systems compared with traditional Intel and AMD processors? We won't really know the answer to these questions until users get the final code and final machines in the second half of the year, but we'll know more in the next few weeks as the consumer preview—what used to be known as a beta version—ships. In the meantime, Microsoft has been slowly explaining some of the changes and what they will mean. In particular, it just released a lot of information about the Windows on ARM version. ................. Indeed, I will be very interested in seeing the performance, battery life, and weight differences among the different ARM-based models, as well as those based on Intel and AMD processors. The comparisons will be most important in the tablet market, where, this fall, we are likely to see machines based on ARM-based processors from Nvidia, Qualcomm, and TI; AMD's Hondo low-power x86 platform; and Intel's Core family (Ivy Bridge) and a new generation Atom platform known as Clover Trail. WOA will be designed without the traditional hibernate and sleep options, but will instead have a "connected standby" mode, so that the machine is always updating applications. The feature will eventually be offered for Windows on x86 as well, and Intel in particular has been talking about it as part of Haswell-based Ultrabooks due in 2013. http://forwardthinking.pcmag.com/operating-systems/294103-windows-on-arm-3-big-questions
February 12, 2012 Microsoft continues to churn out good news, is getting analyst upgrades and still looks solidly undervalued. Key positive news recently from Microsoft. It announced it intends to ship a version of its forthcoming Windows 8 software for processors based on ARM Holdings (ARMH) ................ This is a positive for ARM Holdings as analysts expected Microsoft to release Windows 8 for ARM several months after its software for Intel enabled devices. More importantly, it should also help Microsoft gain traction in the Tablet space. The company has been getting a lot of love from analysts recently. Rick Sherlund just reiterated a "Buy" ration on the company, Morgan Stanley reemphasized its "overweight" on MSFT and Barclays raised its FY2013 EPS estimates to $3.20 a share. http://seekingalpha.com/article/359861-why-microsoft-is-still-a-buy-at-30
Feb 13, 2012, 2:00 am EST ARM Holdings (NASDAQ:ARMH) – Numerous companies are riding Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) coattails, and one that’s sharing in the booming success is ARM Holdings. ARM, whose chip designs are used in Apple’s iPhone and iPad, rose Friday after the company beat market expectations. ARM is particularly benefiting from the surge in iPhone 4S sales, which analysts believe brings in almost double the royalties per unit as previous models. Licensing growth also has been buoyed by more tech manufacturers choosing to license ARM’s technology. ARM’s royalty revenue is growing faster than the industry rate, and the company is gaining share in its target markets. ARM also has been boosted by increasing inclusion of its chip designs into other devices, from washing machines to smart cards. Best known for its low-power chips used in small, portable devices, ARM also is entering into laptops and servers. http://www.investorplace.com/2012/02/trade-of-the-day-armh-arm-holdings/

February 11, 2012 Though it might not come as much of a surprise to a lot of people, I'm going to say it anyway: Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) isn't the powerhouse it once was. The company's stock is up from the $23 low it hit back in June, but even at it's current $30 price point it's nowhere near the $58 peak it started the 21st century with. Fighting increasing competition from Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), various Linux distributions and even Chrome OS from Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), some believe that the company's best days are far behind it. That is why 2012 is such an important year for the Redmond software giant. This year will see the release of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and possibly even Office 15. It will also see the first release of a version of Windows that has been specifically designed for use on tablets, as opposed to the "tablet" versions of previous Windows releases that were essentially the basic version of the operating system with little features such as multitouch support added. Aiming to compete in the iPad's world, the tablet-friendly version of Windows 8 has been built specifically to work with the mobile-standard ARM processors from ARM Holdings (NASDAQ: ARMH). It's even known as Windows on ARM, abbreviated by Microsoft as WOA and by some others as WARM. There's still a lot that isn't known about Windows on ARM, though it seems like more information is being released every day. The tablet OS is aimed to launch at the same time as other versions of Windows 8, and will come bundled with various software titles including versions of Office 15's Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote programs. The inclusion is seen by some as a major selling point since it will give users immediate access to the four most commonly-used components of Office without having to buy and install them separately. This is especially benefitial considering that the company is taking a "walled garden" approach to WOA similar to Apple's iOS operating system, meaning that only Microsoft-authorized apps can be installed on devices running the OS. Analysts seem to think that the release of Windows 8 and Windows on ARM will help the company to find some stability and possibly regain a little bit of market share, especially since it will present a powerful tablet alternative to the iPad for those who aren't fans of Apple. Morgan Stanley's Adam Holt thinks that Windows 8 and WARM will give the company a bit of leverage on the iPad's tablet dominance, especially considering that the OS X version of Office 15 will trail behind the Windows-native versions. He reinterated Microsoft's "overweight" rating with the firm and set a price point target of $33 per share for Microsoft stock. http://beta.fool.com/croaxleigh/2012/02/11/microsoft-warming-big-year/1907/?source=TheMotleyFool
