JC21 Just don't put all your eggs in one basket. Full Stop. I've property, collectibles, cash and bank deposits, Premium Bonds(lol), PMs, maybe 50+ share holdings in my portfolios (+6 in share certificates).....maybe 10% of my net worth in shares in total.....maybe around 0.2% =£2k in ROCK.

Just saying but then I retired 19 years ago age 45......I'd hate to lose the lot and have to go back to work...lol....although I was self-employed in the main!

You got it in one coot.....Think I've done over 100 trades in ROCK over the years....and without checking I think they've all followed the buy lower...sell higher...trim a bit....bank the profits (lose elsewhere lol)...always held a CORE of ROCK besides.....'cause one day it will fly! (FOMO).

Managed both today........a top up to increase current hold position....and a wee day trade yielding post charges= 28p net per share profit in cash.

Personally happy to have days like this as often as poss!

I have made and given back probably millions....and have been investing for 45yrs.

You can actually do both (hold and trade)....no harm in taking some profits (but hold some of the same stock?)....you can take the journey like a train with a flexi ticket and stop off at stations along the way...and only disembark if you lost total faith in e.g. the BOD!

And you being out of the market...you weren't (you were betting on the £???)

I've learned to have a totally balanced portfolio (I'm maybe in 50+ shares but the total share value is only say 10% of net worth)

may be age/risk thing though now I guess....I wouldn't have the time to make back a total loss....lol

My point is that 100%s are getting easier and shorter in time...... 100% from $90 is $180 and e.g. time say e.g. 4 months and then e.g. $360 in e.g. 3 months and $720 in 2 months.....purely conceptual but that means x8 in 9 months .........800% (lol)

......and if shares perform IMO by at least x 4 to POG

that could put HOC from £8 to say £320 (40 bagger)

That's what I think...but nobody appears to outwardly agree....let's see....lol

I am sure that you are aware that you are basing your theories on the narrative and not necessarily on what is really going on. The odd time it may appear that various actors are eating each other as dogs and also eating us as cats....lol

But when they get part of their two way bet slightly wrong they still get most of the bet right, can balance the rest of the books by hiding the loss, marking the value to whatever (temporarily), bank/gov printing bailout (dilution)...and fleecing retail...lol They will never lose....

and Chid grow up with your birdsong tweets......shareholders are gamblers....they are all traders (only the holding time differs)......if you have insider info you will illegally profit and when your face doesn't fit you will get you come uppance and everyone else playing in shares knows nought.

But there is nothing to stop you minimising the odds against you by jumping in and out frequently when you see something that will generate momentum activity...the secret is to wait until the time is right and not chase it...lol
