Interesting:
"Flew up to (and back from!) Newcastle yesterday to meet with @BSF_Enterprise and tour the labs and offices.
Incredibly impressed with #BSFA's operations. Got to see an almost completed square of lab-grown animal skin (10 cm²) that will find its way to a luxury leather goods manufacturer, for its tanners to test. Surreal stuff.
Current lab has a production capacity of 2,500 litres of City-Mix per annum (at £400/l, that's £1m in revenue pa). However, the plan is to out-license the product to the largest cell culture media manufacturers and consumers out there (the likes of Danaher, Thermo Fisher, and the largest of the cultivated meat manufacturers) - who could then produce all the City-Mix that they require for their media, in-house.
The market for cell culture media (just for use in the biotech/pharmaceutical industries) is already circa $5bn per annum. Over the next 10-20 years, its use in the cultivated meat industry is exacted to grow to 10-20x of the amount used in biotech/pharma.
There's loads going on with BSFA's structured products too. I was able to see (and hold) a lab-grown cornea yesterday - which could be used both for medical uses and industrial applications. I believe we will also shortly hear of BSFA's plans to progress its Tissue Templating platform in creating cultivated meats, beyond the pork fillet it already has successfully developed.
Multiple partnerships with massive companies across numerous industries are in the offing. I continue to add as and when I can on those bizarre sell-offs (now at 2.6%), in anticipation of a major rerating of the shares in the not too distant future."
