NCYT selling test result assurance as well as the test kit6 Mar 2020 19:09
When we went to war over the Falkland islands we went to war with the men and equipment we had.
No time to launch new ships, develop new weapons, train more soldiers.
In the space of a weekend we went from victims of armed aggression, to sending an attack task force to the Falklands.
We are now faced with a clear and present danger - coronavirus.
We know that some health authorities are using NCYT equipment / test kits, and we know the kits
detect positive swabs 100%.
Swab data (sequences) provided from positive swab sample results, are input to the NCBI* database
from clinics and labs world-wide.
What we are seeing on LinkedIn is the NCYT bioinformatics team checking daily, that the detection assay has homology with all of these database sequences, and can still detect all positive 2019-nCoV samples.
These checks confirm that the test kits NCYT sell can detect all positive 2019-nCoV samples.
If the virus mutates, the in-house informatics team will know, and check that the test kit is still able to detect positive samples for the new strain.
What else can health authorities ask, than to be assured that the NCYT test kits are able to detect
COVID-19 and only COVID-19 100%, no false positives or false negatives.
No other test kit provider makes these checks, so no other provider can make up to date assurances of the validity of the
test kit result.
So we are not just selling test kits, we are providing assurances to health authorities that NCYT tests are 100% accurate.
Those assurances are thrown in for free when the test kits are sold, regardless of whether the test kit is to be used on a Primerdesign instrument, or a compatible instrument such as the Roche instrument.
Governments know we have to fight the virus with the equipment now available.
That point is not lost on the US government, who know they have fallen short by distributing duff CDC instruments, and allowing the FDA to spend far to long to authorise equipment.
This is why I feel certain that the next RNS will show NCYT order book is overflowing with orders,
and Primerdesign don't take orders without payment.
