RE: Buys vs sells12 Dec 2019 07:44
The problem is the Buys v Sells reporting on here and on ADVFN is based on the quoted Current/Mid price at the time a trade goes through, so any trade price below the quoted Current/Mid will show as a sell, while any trade with a price above the quoted Current/Mid will show as a buy. I sat watching trades going through yesterday, whilst doing dummy sell quotes online via my HL account having bought in at 9p on Tuesday morning. Lots of live trades going through as buys were actually going through with the exact price I was being quoted to sell, so there were in fact sells. For example, the quoted Bid may have been 12p, the Offer 13p, and the Current/Mid 12.5p, but I was getting sell quotes at 12.6p, while true buys were going through at 12.9p, so all trades at that point would be reported as buys as they were all above the Cuurent/Mid., when in fact many were sells. This is why the Buys v Sells on here and ADVFN is so unreliable, it's not an intelligent system.
