Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Evening.. lbjj, premature? Now you are being ridiculous! We do not know when a decision is to be made.. A bit stable - door don't you think, to submit an 'mining study' report in any appeal.. Inadmissible? The main objectors will I assume, submit their comment also, before the 6th Sept, and they will try to push some of UNESCO's comments..So, we need to show why Kallak merits the concession, and show why the award of concession is not a matter for UNESCO, before the 6th September.. BEM's comment, should have the backing of the mining study ?.................Imo only.atb..........
Evening.. KallakRediculous, No, It’s not a distraction! KB, looks very much to be making good preparations for any battle re attachments/other, imo..
Kurt Budge- “We are moving forwards with the Mining Study, the outputs of which will enable us to advance discussions on both logistics for Kallak production, and product volumes, specifications and attributes with potential customers.”
Production? Volumes?
Any recommendations from UNESCO was the concern from the outset following the referral.. We got, some “suggestions” in among, the UNESCO BS! We do not want/need any conditions with any award of concession that could result in the Environmental court permitting only, a much lower production/Tonnage level, that what otherwise could have been permitted in the absence of any such conditions.. This all, to address alleged BS concerns of “indirect” impact.. This would make a huge dent in the value of Kallak.. Not much good to us investors having hundreds of millions of tonnes of the very best ore, if it takes a hundred years say, to extract.. SP? Baylan, did not run off to UNESCO, only for them to say something that he didn’t want to work with…This man has his Kallak goal..
When KB gives BEM’s comprehensive comments on UNESCO’s letter, to the minister, he can include the carci consultants report.. KB, is not interested in any distractions.. Some others are! Imo only.. atb…
Evening.. Well Eric, nothing else seems to fit the Kallak debacle, imo..
Moving on, what will the ministry now decide to do with UNESCO’s comments in respect of any grant of award, in its entirety? Baylan knows what KB’s view is re UNESCO! No ambiguity there! We have a wounded Government, and the minister has a number of CEO’s/opposition MP’s on his case over his failings.. The politics have changed here, and this man needs a mining result without any challenges.. Someone has to give a little! “Concession first” lol Imo only.. atb……
Evening.. Eric, imo,I have always believed (right or wrong)that the delays were a negotiation tactic, re some Government ideal for N Kallak - Not necessarily a sale to LKAB, for example.. I will never buy into the assertion that the Greens have stalled on this, over any genuine concerns for the Environment/other.. They, imo will not be calling the shots re Kallak..
So, with the above big politics in play, and the fact that minister Baylan took the unusual step with the referral to UNESCO, (years after the MI’s recommendation) which was, and still is, not without political risk, Lofven would have given the green light on that, and he wouldn’t do that without backing Baylan on all other.. In short, this Government has not been pro – mining, and it needs to be turned around quickly, and Baylan has already covered a lot of ground in hard - talk with all stakeholders, much of which not recorded - ( KU report).. In my opinion only.. atb…
Evening.. KallakRidiculous, No need for the further involvement of lawyers at this time,imo.. We are in a political arena re Kallak, and minister Baylan needs to deliver result(s) sharpish, for the Country - PM/party.. Given the very recent events, I should imagine that Baylan’s innovation around the cabinet table is about as welcome as a fxxt in a spacesuit.. The PM cannot go into the next election with a key minister who has proved to date to be so ineffective re employment etc, without further political cost! Lofven, has to deliver now!
Baylan has been a political liability for the government/ party (KU, Frazer,CEO’s) and yet, he wasn’t made to clear his desk this week - Why not? “Concession first”.. Imo only atb…………………….
Evening.. lbjj, Deluded? With respect, you are becoming a ‘red - day’ only, poster.. That shows a lack of conviction in what you are saying.. Frustrated investor perhaps?
BEM’s stated, current position is:
(1) “Concession first”
(2) “It’s not a matter for UNESCO”
(3) And, for the first, BEM has £millions in the bank should BEM’s priority’s change, and that legal action becomes necessary re Kallak decision/concession..
We will never know if KB’s approach not to take legal action re delays over recent years was indeed right/wrong.. However, any legal action taken that failed, would most certainly resulted in BEM/investors never receiving fair value for any mine at Kallak.. This is a money game, and it is key, for the CEO not to make the wrong move! KB is wearing Big boy’s pants.. The minister, has to decide on risk/other re UNESCO’ comments, imo.. All imo only.. atb………………..
Evening.. “Many, many more months of waiting for perhaps nothing more to happen.” Perhaps, but that wouldn’t be in the Government’s interest.. Assuming Lofven, the EU, globalist stooge will be ‘appointed’ by the same ilk, he’ll need a minister with innovation to get them out of the mining mess made by Baylan.. The Baylan/UNESCO’s ambiguous nonsense has made the chances of any decision being challenged from somewhere, more likely if the minister doesn’t now kick axse where it is needed imo.. After 8+ years, then any legal challenge made, in the run – up to the election would be nuts.. Whoever becomes minister needs to deliver the Kallak decision pronto, as stated.. This is now well out of shape, any worse, and its more political cost – now unaffordable in the coming months when ‘the people’ consider where to cast their vote.. Lofven, needs a minister who at least knows which way the camera is pointing! lolol ………… Imo only atb…………….
Evening.. Wotitsworth,Yes! Mr Baylan imo has taken some big risks re the Kallak application, when he could have delivered for the many on behalf of the Government.. The ministry will also be aware that investor sentiment is supportive of the CEO’s correct handling of recent issues. When it was apparent that UNESCO had given their reply, the Swedish market went positive (40%ish up) before the comment details were even known.. Baylan will have taken note.. Leak? Lol.. Baylan knows that BEM are only interested in what the proposals merit at this time, as do the investor, just one of the reasons why the SP is holding fairly well in choppy waters.. Imo only atb…
Evening.. ibjj, “Does anyone honestly believe a mine in the back of beyond, whose application has long since ceased to have any meaning or value, is on anyone’s agenda?
Yep, me! The MI records, that the submitted proposals are good… The CEO records, that the submitted proposals for concession has FA to do with UNESCO.. We both know that the Ministry do not want to deny the grant of concession.. So then, someone has to decide on what to do with UNESCO’s input re the decision/concession.. Having read UNESCO’s comments, and the following most impressive statements coming from BEM (RNS’s), should any conditions/caveats come with any award, that can be attributed to UNESCO’s comments, that could set parameters in scope, for the Environmental court, then its clear, we are going into battle.. UNESCO, can bring their international reputation – just for starters! That’s what is on the agenda.. lol IMO only atb………….
Evening.. Eric, yes, big Stef could!!! More of the same from Lofven won’t cut it – for sure!
Taken from RNS – 15.06. 2021
“In Norrbotten, we see downstream projects, HYBRIT and H2GreenSteel, getting permitted in a couple of years, whereas there is no similar consideration/treatment for unlocking secure and sustainable upstream supply that can ensure the integrity of a fossil-free supply chain. It makes no sense.”
“It makes no sense.” Capiche?
……… So then, the coalition Government were indeed, pushing Green policy with real Green investment capital! So, are we to believe then that the Greens in the coalition do/did not even recognise the Kallak proposals (Super high – grade ore, low impurities?) as being Green? BS!! Some other – 1000/1 at aug power! Concession first! lolol….. It’s all about party survival now! Just get on with it, and shove any extra’s Imo only atb……
Evening.. Eric, yes, concession first.. it’s a must do lol.. Lofven is too dumb and arrogant to even grasp why this has happened.. Everyone, do need somewhere to live, and a job so they can pay for it, and so on.. It’s of his own making! Should he fight on, he’ll need to find some winning policies.. We have our Mr Baylan, who perhaps now, will want to claim the credit for both the HYBRIT and H2 Green steel getting permitted, and would have to answer to critics/ opposition, why hasn’t he permitted the supply of high – grade iron ore to make it all possible.. Whilst Baylan wants to talk forever about a “Green transition”, China are opening two coal – fired power plants every week! That’s not being very Green Mr Baylan.. The permitting process/ mineral policy/Kallak will be a battle ground in the short term, imo.. Lofven could have some big ammo here, will he put it to good use- mining matters to the Swedish people?? This all, so unnecessary on a number of fronts.. Imo only atb……………
Evening.. Takayama, why should any investor in BEM think Baylan needs to put together a new proposal to UNESCO, when BEM’s CEO has clearly stated “it’s not a matter for UNESCO”? Why would any investor in BEM want their CEO to be in any negotiations whatsoever re the award of concession resulting from input attributed to UNESCO? It does appear to me that the ministry is trying to achieve some ideal that perhaps could have been delivered, if they had ‘gone to work’ before the CAB had given its opinion to the MI.. Too greedy? One further thought on our CEO - you do not get your feet under the table working for Rinto, if you have no ability in how to make friends………Imo only.. atb…….
EricDraven, Yes! Baylan now has all the information ‘he ‘needs, to make a decision.. Should he deny the grant of concession – regardless, then we should challenge… Should he request further information from the applicant, then we challenge that!.. Should he grant the concession, but attach any caveats/conditions, in keeping with UNESCO’s comments, then we challenge for their removal….No deals! No further talks until a decision is made! Lets leave the talking to the opposition parties.. Imo only atb………….
Evening.. Suzy2, KB’s letter perhaps doesn’t carry the same weight as a question from a elected member, however, KB is now providing the ammo for those questions being asked.. Just look at the detail in the RNS (official release), following UNESCO’s comments! He has given the opposition parties carte blanche.. This Government doesn’t want to deny the ward of concession, and any further delay now, and we should see more political heat coming to Baylan.. The timing of Baylan’s UNESCO referral after near 8 years of process, raises some questions that could yet get asked! Baylan, needs to get real now! I’ve forgotten about the Greens, they take policy direction straight from the EU, and should the Kallak ore remain in the ground, it would be contrary to a number of their known policy objectives, as other Swedish mine sites where mine/reindeer co – exist does testify.. Imo only atb…
Evening.. sj74, “it’s what the Gov decide to do re UNESCO report” That is Baylan’s huge problem now.. KB has all but said, the report should hang from a nail on the rear of the door in the little shed at the bottom of the garden, and UNESCO won’t welcome the prospect of defending against Lawyers armed with the MI’s recommendation report/other relevant factors, should Baylan keep digging for his ideal.. Concession first - Take ya medicine man.. Imo only atb……….
Evening.. Wotitsworth, it’s for the Government to make a decision.. UNESCO have now made their comments, at the request of the Minister! Its Baylan’s move now.. BEM has made our position perfectly clear from the outset – “it’s not a matter for UNESCO”! Imo only.. atb…………….
