TFE, Very true, I work part time to pay for the little 'Luxuries' like Council Tax and TV license. I pay a load of tax on not a great income and expect to pay alot more in the near future. Pensioners should never have to pay Income Tax, unless they have an exceptionally high income. One poster who occasionally posts here suggested Pensioners should pay NI. Of course, he is an ex Civil Servant, who doesn't have to pay for a TV license.
