Decided to take a bit of profit this morning as I got spooked about the Covid news coming out of China today may spook the airlines. Parked my cash in VOD as that seems pretty cheap right now with a nice divi coming on Thursday.
Still have a substantial holding here though which I have in for the longer term.

Parked another £15K here as I have the feeling we have hit rock bottom and with a reasonable divi coming on Thursday it seems a nice safe place to park it.

Next weeks close after going ex div = 102.3

This seems a pretty safe haven at the moment to park some money. I really cannot see any further downside and has to be one of the safest bets on the market right now as the country slips into recession.
I am waiting for the travel stocks to fall a little further before jumping back aboard there. In the meantime I will let VOD take care of my cash. Enjoy your weekend guys.

Robleo………..hang on in there. I made the mistake of selling my big initial stakes in CNA back in 2020 for 43p making a loss of £180k . My average was around 140p Needles to say today it hit 93p. I decided that my money was better off in the travel sector that was starting to bounce back after the first vaccine was found. I have had to work hard by shifting stocks to recover my losses but as it happens I would have been far better off just staying put.
I think VOD is cheap and well over sold and hopefully soon we will start to see a nice recovery.

Well done to all those that hung on. I bailed last week as I thought this would get hammered today. I still cannot understand this market at times, I thought todays news was not great for CNA but we end the day up over 5%. You couldn’t make it up if you tried.

Moniman……..you seem to like the sound of your own voice. No one really cares about your thoughts. Why do you keep ranting on if you have no interest in the company. Please trot along and give the folk still interested in investing in VOD a break.

Gary59……….what a lit of twoddle you talk! I have been in VOD for a good few years now and have never witnessed such falls post ex div. I can only guess you are trying to get in on the cheap…….as for debt it really is no big deal, if it was this really would have tanked. All big companies rely on huge debt to assist their expansion.
In my opinion VOD is dirt cheap now and a pretty rick solid investment going forward.

The chancellor will also use Thursday’s Autumn Statement to lift the existing windfall tax on oil and gas companies, known as the “energy profits levy”, from 25 per cent to 35 per cent — while extending it for another two years until 2028.

A lot of rubbish being talked here about debt. All successful companies carry huge debt, it is par for the course. I am more interested in profit, the future and a good dividend. All 3 of these points look good to me with a divi around 7%. The pensions institutions will be loading up here within the next 10 days. Short this at your peril.

As they say buy when there is blood on the streets as with VOD today. Profits up and paying a 7% divi……..who ever thought you would pick this up below £1.
The divi hunters will be piling back in tomorrow.

Why is this board full of so many feckwitts? No one really cares if you are negative here. As the saying goes, only buy when there is blood on the streets. If this goes **** up so so be it. A pure gamble from here but a gamble I am happy to take……the positives out weigh the negatives in my view so happy to take that risk.

Chester……..It is a long time since I was in Carnival but like most travel stocks they are starting to look cheap again. Maybe about time I was back in? Don’t like getting cold feet for too long, a nice 7% rise here today before I sold was my signal to sell, although I probably jumped too soon. . As I say, I may be back but just waiting to see what surprises Rishi springs in the next week or so.
Remember I lost £180K here a couple of years ago so to be honest not my favourite share. Since then I have worked hard to recover my losses but it has meant me being very pro active and not sitting in one share for too long……as they say, a profit is a profit. Good luck.
