I'm very fortunate MrsNewchuch - but It's not been easy, I held through the dark days of recession and added during the rescue scrip issues - my patients has paid off, I now live off my divi income and with rising profits & buybacks I look forward to even better time to come

Pillarts - I have a substantial Lloys holding with an average just under 50p - no, I'm not concerned about being heavily invested in Lloy - Good simple/solid/low risk business, upsides inc end of Ppi, divi growth, divi cover, buybacks, potential Brexit relief - Lloy is now a pure cash cow - other grass does not look greener to me.

The Lloyds share price looks dirt cheap, trading at just eight times forward earnings, while its price-to-book value is just 0.8. Earnings grew 52% in 2017 and 25% last year, and another 38% has been pencilled in for 2019 (although just 2% in 2020).

As for the dividends – it now has a forecast yield of a mighty 6%, covered 2.2 times by earnings.
Back in the day, journalists would routinely cut and paste the phrase ‘dividend machine’ into articles about Lloyds, Those days are back.
In a bid to further woo income seekers, Lloy will pay quarterly dividends from 2020.

Lloyds will also breathe a sigh of relief when the deadline for PPI mis-selling claims arrives on 29 August.

This weeks observation - on going Brexit uncertainty and 'sell in May' weigh on banks and the wider market as a whole,

Overall conclusion -
A very basic comparison that does no include divi yield, IMO those still suggesting Lloy is 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share' seriously need to examine their concept of investing.

* Reckon 2019 divi could be 1.2p Interim, + 2.4p Final, + 1p special release of Tier 1

Every day Lloy is spending £millions buying back its own shares - every share LLoy buys back and cancels enhances the value of the remaining shares in issue,
ie if it bought back 50% the remaining 50% would double in value (but that will take a very long time to achieve),

and with less shares in issue the already generous divi per share is also enhanced

IMO - divi + buybacks = a near 10% PA return on my pot

Keep up those relentless buybacks guys - that the current rate we could be below 70bn by end of Set
