Ammonium sulphamate (Note, sulphamate, not sulphate) murders marestail. You can only buy it as a compost accelerant these days though, not a weedkiller. Not because it's dangerous, just because the manufacturer refused to test it on animals. Best weedkiller I've ever used. As a bonus, after a few weeks in the soil it breaks down into sulphate and becomes a fertiliser.
