QE I've been with H-L for ages, sipps, Isa's, broking. Got in as a customer at reduced rate (but like many good ipo's) a smaller than applied for number of shares. Also bought a good number at the 180p full price. Held them through the crash 2008 and still hold around the same initial investment value taking into account it is lower at present. Have been fortunate to have taken excellent profits along the way, and never had any probs with their service.

I understand the comparison with supermarkets, but imo there is a big difference between trying to save a few quid on groceries, and making a decision as to where to park most of your hard-earned lifelong savings. H-L do have the high profile, long established, and generally well received profile that many people look for. They will be aware of where they could be more competitive and are unlikely to be as complacent as the supermarkets. There will always be places and chances for nimble competitors of course, but let's not forget the outrageous charges the banks and fund managers used to levy, prior to the likes of H-L.

Over-subscribed placing at 345p to existing ii's and purchase of another company that fits well with rgs. Looks good.

Final ex-div on 2nd April, 14.09p per share, so another likely drop then.

Well they nearly all drop when they go ex-div, so I suppose it will.

Good results, but perhaps the market expected better. Fantastic last 18 months and divi still around 6%.

What a performer, sp is X8 in less than 2.5 years, lovely steady climb, the finance guys have really got to grips with it. Sorry to say I baled out too early, but still did well. gl to all involved at pic.

Recovering nicely now after the sale of approx 10% of the shares by Hanover Investors in mid-jan, worth about £17 million Hanover still hold approx another 10%, so just took an excellent profit, while remaining a major holder. Interim results in about 3 weeks, which based on the Jan trading statement should be rather good.
