Thanks for that seadoc and I will try to download and read the recommended publication. After some thought, I decided to buy more at sub 50p and so far it appears to have been the right decision, time will tell.
I am heavily committed here already and naturally I am currently showing a substantial loss. I first bought in at around 20p years ago and subsequently added as the SP rose and the news seemed to get more promising. My average is now around 78P on my 25K holding. Question, is anybody thinking of buying at these depressed levels and maybe averaging down, or do you think the shorters will make hay and drive SP lower. I don't intend selling, to realise a loss, not yet anyway as I do not think, the news is all gloomy. All chipmakers are suffering at the moment.
A new United Carpets store is opening in Bristol, I believe it is their first in the South and west, it was a Maplin store in a previous life (now defunct). I hope UCG are more successful and profitable.
I think you maybe right, last time I was this far underwater was during the great recession, ten years ago now. There is no earthly reason why so many good companies are down so much, apart from sentiment, If you can call that a reason. I have been steadily reinvesting all my dividend payments, as is generally accepted as good advice at such times, only to see the share prices sink further. I reckon, I will finish up this year at least 60K down compared to last end of year, with no upturn in sight. I know there are some investors out there a lot worst off than me. Worrying times for sure. Christmas has been cancelled this year.
Reluctantly sold my entire holding in XLM today, I am sure many investors here will not understand, but for me the episode with Globo is still fresh in the memory, will wait and watch from the sidelines. 50 percent profit, happy to bank it while I can.
Hargreaves Lansdown have given a good write-up after their results were impressive. Suggested they are a good medium to long-term investment and I agree, plus they pay a good dividend. As far as REITs go, I value this investment trust as highly as BBOX
Just sold my holding which I had from few years back when they traded at 57, with current SP achieved, got full amount including dividend, without having to wait for them to pay me off, , obviously priced to tempt more to sell now. Happy with my return of over 200pc. Wish all my investments were this successful. GLA
This is a good business, with its services in demand, more than ever, you would expect it to be prospering in a growth industry. Unfortunately, Mr Cotton seems determined to drive this company into a ditch, he is that inept, lost count of the number of profit warnings and announcements regarding lost contracts, seems never ending. Now, we know in the real world, it is possible to have the odd setback, but to have several and over a length of time, could be considered careless at best. Perhaps Mr Cotton should consider his position, as I feel a different approach is required, someone who can take control and work through the chaos and disorder we appear to be in.
became an accidental shareholder in NCC, when they completed the takeover of Accumuli. Held the shares ever since as i realised like accumuli this company is growing and will continue to do so. Now with the pull back in the share price, which I consider overdone, I have taken this opportunity to obtain another 2K shares @ 199 to add to my holding. Too good an opportunity to pass up. IMO
This is the reply, I received today from Barclays, does this sound like a bank to have confidence in ?
Good Afternoon Mr xxxxx
Thank you for your email regarding Dividends.
You are correct that the pay date for National Grid is 10/08/2016. As a nominee account holder you can expect this dividend payment no later than 17/08/2016.
I notice that you have queried dividend payment dates before, so I would like to confirm that from the listed payment dates of all stocks, it will take us usually 5 working days to pay our individual investors, such as yourself. The reason for this is that we receive one bulk payment from each dividend paying stock, and this payment is broken down into a smaller payment depending on your holding amount.
Needless to say I will be taking my business away from Barclays soon as I find this unacceptable and not in the best interest of its customers.
I am still waiting for my dividend from Barclays, is it just me, but Barclays are always late paying the dividend payments into my account, I understand the payment was due on the 10th. Has anybody else received their dividend from NG
