We included ~4p/share for the well in our 127p/share Hurricane NAV.
Today's announcement from Hurricane is disappointing, and we expect the share price reaction to reflect this.
However, it does not undermine the next two wells scheduled to be drilled by operator Spirit Energy in the Greater Warwick Area (HUR 50%), nor does it impact the potential scale and deliverability of the Lancaster EPS (HUR 100%).
Hurricane is scheduled to host a Capital Markets Day on 11th July in London.
Hurricane Energy today released an update on the Warwick Deep E&A well. The well drilled a 712m horizontal section of fractured basement reservoir, however the well did not flow at commercial rates, producing a mixture of brine, water, oil and gas.
Initial analysis indicates that the well intersected a poorly connected section of the fracture network within the oil column and the well will now be plugged and abandoned.
Given Warwick Deep tests the same fractured basement reservoir interval as the Lancaster field (separated by the Brynhild fault zone), we see negative read across to reservoir quality risk in the Lancaster field.
The rig will next move to drill the Lincoln Crestal well, the second of a three well programme on the Greater Warwick area. Hurricane has a 50% interest in the Greater Warwick area following Spirit Energy's 2018 farm in. Hurricane has a CMD on 11th July when it will provide a further update on analysis of the Warwick Deep well.
Our thesis on Hurricane is that gradual de-risking of its 2C resource base offers significant share upside. This morning, we learnt that the first and riskiest well in this summer's threewell drilling programme has failed to flow commercial hydrocarbons. At this early stage of interpreting data from the well we make no changes to estimates, nor our 130p target price, although perceptions of the blue-sky upside potential (which does not yet contribute to our target price) could be negatively affected by this news.
so losses for the year are brilliant in your book?
I have some beans you might want to buy..
Since we are now officially an oil producer and no longer a pure explorer the knowledge of drilling and such on this bb has served it's purpose.
I thank those that over these last years have explained the wealth of data that come from the drilling campaign.
As of late the vast majority of posts here are now red little bands because of my filter button use.
Unfortunately it's has become senseless drivel and I bid you all farewell and good luck on the market.
@yuyus, how long a flow period for the dst would you assume they will aim for to get reliable results?

I'm not too bothered about today, this is the biggest tick in the box for the company thus far and defies all the industry critics.
Looking for anew platform price somewhere in the 70's from when I expected to be launched higher when WD results come through.
