I have been investigating buying the physical metals.

The VAT on silver makes it pointless.

The margins the dealers are putting on the physical is crazy, currently 1oz of gold is equivalent to about $5350 from a dealer vs $5046 spot, you need a circa 15% uplift just to cover the dealers buying and selling back margins.

Silver stocks the way forward, at least you only pay CGT on profits.
