Regarding the 30% WHT, In my head I just write it off as my small “charity” contribution to the finances of South Africa. It certainly hurts less when the dividend is at such low levels. I just hope they do something useful with my money.

There doesn’t seem to be any equivalent of the W8BEN form used with USA holdings. Over the last few years this topic generally crops up at divi time and so far nobody has demonstrably been able to avoid losing 20% to the SA withholding tax. The general consensus being that the companies holding the shares in UK nominee accounts don’t want to put in the effort to reclaim the 20% for us their customers. That’s a generalisation, but hopefully you get the idea.

It’s a fair point to make. The unavoidable 20% withholding tax is old news to anyone long term here, but it might be a surprise to newbies.

You just need to factor in that you only receive 80% of the dividend, when you’re making investment decisions around TGA. I think also some people sell out just before XD and buy back a few days later, but I don’t follow close enough to know whether that generally bags you the whole divi.

On September 19th the question was posed: What’s a better option for my hypothetical £52k, a notifiable 3% of IBAI or a well specified Cupra Ateca?

Well, that was at 0.7p, so now the maths are different! At the current 1p price we are now in Land Rover Discovery territory, where I’m shocked to find that a 3.0 diesel auto would set me back the tidy sum of £74,975.

I think I might still plump for 3% of IBAI.

I’ve only got a (target of a) small fractional ownership of the shares in issue, but of course with every placing, the denominator number increases and my fraction decreases. Playing catch up this morning with spare change, but still over 40k shares adrift. I wouldn’t mind the dilution if the cash was for a clear beneficial purpose, but the comms seem woeful and PI’s always seem to be the last to know the crunchy details. atb

There was a post IPO lock in on the TEK held shares. This has now expired, so they can sell down if they so wish.

All we need now is a Santa rally and a Trump jump and then it will be doubles all round, except in the short camp. atb

Well, he can buy 1/1000th of the company for under £3000 at these prices. Looking at the 50 trades listed today, only one buyer has gone better than that. atb

Hi, in the carve out from Pendragon, the proceeds from the Pendragon sale were paid out as a massive dividend earlier this year. Any site reporting previous dividends without that context will give information on yield which will just be incorrect going forward. I’m not aware of any suggested dividend from Pinewood, but you could entertain yourself reading all the RNS info since Xmas in case there are any pointers. My guess is that they will see how trading is going before giving guidance either way. atb
