SOU spent a fortune (actually gave a huge proportion of their company away) on a huge seismic programme with Schlumberger. It used a fleet of Vibro trucks - I presume this was 3D - others can confirm ?

This resulted in picking a new drill site which turned out to be a duster. Brian Mitchener, the exploration geologist said one of the factors was the poor quality of the seismic. I don't know if this was down to the quality of execution or nature of the geology.

What I do know was this was a very expensive Sh 1 T or bust approach, which ruined the company, and I along with a number of other investors discussed the fact that we would have preferred a more incremental approach

Of course in the long term financial stability, P&L, cashflow are important.

However "safe" companies with all that nailed down will rarely provide the risk reward ratio that a success case will produce here.

You might as well criticise Glaxo for not offering 10 bagger potential.

Hence the need for a balanced portfolio. This provides the spice in mine

The intriguing question for me is, how, in a success case, would the revenue from such a large be phased for us.

I would be very (but pleasantly) surprised at a multi B upfront payout. Something of this magnitude would yield its value over a number of years.

Stub equity, royalties I guess, but a lot of it then becomes outside our control.

Fair bit of serious chemical processing required before poppies become anything to avoid sniffing.
