The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Woodstock - Just to be clear, I wasn't being passive aggressive. I haven't been on here for a while as things had been fairly stagnant as we all know, so haven't read your posts, only the ones today. And yes, SNG drug should have been given EUA months ago if not last July, like others I too had feared the vaccines were a nail in the coffin of SNG, but the recent approval of Molnupiravir does give hope.
woodstock - I have heard this analogy a lot, but it is not a fair one. If you are in an accident, a seatbelt will definitely save your life or from serious injury. However you wouldn't bother with it if you were moving your car out of the garage onto the drive to wash it would you? And a seatbelt doesn't involve 3 injections every 6 months -to a year. There are significant risks with the vaccines which is just a matter of fact. Everyone is entitled to be made aware of the risks involved, but they weren't. Now, many many people are suffering the consequences. Taking any vaccine or treatment of any kind must be a decision for the individual based on their circumstances. We all know or have heard of an otherwise health person getting ill or dying, but its uncommon. For every one that is known, there are literally hundreds of thousands that have been fine.
AJ316 - You might find this report interesting. They too confirm that mass vaccination was the wrong approach, day 1 of virology school by many accounts. it says “Conventional wisdom is that natural selection will remove highly lethal pathogens if host death greatly reduces transmission. Vaccines that keep hosts alive but still allow transmission could thus allow very virulent strains to circulate in a population.”

Splatted - It is not selfish to want control over ones own health. And, as you alluded to in the second part of your point, the vaccine cannot cope with mutations effectively making it useless in the medium to long term. Israeli studies have shown efficacy to be around 65% and as we all know the vaccine does not stop you getting or passing on this virus. In fact there are large numbers of vaccinated people catching the virus and in fact dying from it. The media frenzy has most of the population walking on eggshells, terrified to leave the house. Remember, the death rate is 2% of those who contract covid, or 0.2% of the population the vast majority are over 75 or with other serious medical conditions. Approximately 650,000 people die each year worldwide of flu, yet there has never before been such a mask or vaccine frenzy, are 650,000 deaths not enough? As one doctor said on question time recently, every 45 minutes a man dies of prostate cancer and no one is jumping up and down about that. Needless to say the camera immediately panned away from him as that response didn't fit the BBC narrative. More people need to turn off their TV sets and instead look into the information and statistics that are openly available in the public domain and in official government information, listen to the brave whistleblowers and you might get a sense of what's really going on.
Tiger - Its always worth reading ones previous posts before commenting. Here are some of your more recent highlights...

600thieves - Sam Volkering expects BTC to reach $250k this year. This is a very interesting video describing in detail his predictions for BTC, ARB even gets a brief mention. https://pro.southbankresearch.com/p/FTI-0721-race6/EFTIX7DI/?em=2%3FcustomerNumber%3D000131656648&campaignId=5bd0d5c4-e61f-406f-a0da-cc847ac33f7b&r=eml&experimentId=c62f51eb-e35d-4748-9b58-d97c9d349bca&vid=0SAsHx&customerId=000131656648-000133699924&utm_campaign=exi-240721-endo-fti-non-buyers&utm_source=blueshift&utm_medium=email&utm_content=exi-240721-endo-fti-non-buyers&bsft_clkid=d9acaf24-28d4-4024-a6e6-6f2b48ad7917&bsft_uid=6c75dc6d-87e8-4ded-bd4b-8e0ed1f66101&bsft_mid=4602c269-8c10-45c5-b81d-4d9267545929&bsft_eid=c62f51eb-e35d-4748-9b58-d97c9d349bca&bsft_utid=6c75dc6d-87e8-4ded-bd4b-8e0ed1f66101-MW_EXI&bsft_mime_type=html&bsft_ek=2021-07-24T16%3A31%3A27Z&bsft_aaid=06515e46-7465-42f8-a61e-e11c68ce95fb&bsft_lx=2&bsft_tv=3&h=true
drlong - I did the sensible thing and compared the 4 assets over the last 12 months, you chose the dip of the asset you don't like and used that as your comparison. How about you compare the last 7 days, or better still the last 10 years to get a sense of all 4 investments over the longer term Gold up 10% oil down 30%, bitcoin up 3.2million % Arb up 2,700% since inception? Anyway, how about you just let us continue to make money and you stick with underperforming assets and maybe premium bonds ?
Drlong - If you watch the presentation I posted below renowned Bitcoin expert Sam Volkering, he explains in detail how Bitcoin can reach well over $100k this year and beyond a million in the future including a number of large funds that have applied for Bitcoin ETF's.

Sharedealer - Perhaps you could point out my 'deramp' whatever the hell that even means. The number of cases is largely irrelevant, in fact it's a good thing according to virologists, its the hospitalisations that matter. You could really do with toning down the sensationalism, perhaps consider getting a job on Sky News reading out the daily totals? The death rate is dropping from the 2% of population level and 0.2 % of those infected, most of whom are over 75. These figures will reduce significantly from here on. As I said to woodstock earlier, live in a cave if you wish, but let others return to their lives before there is no life to return to.
That's a case in point sharedealer. Some are only willing to accept the advice of experts that they agree with. A professor who sits on the JCVI clearly doesn't have an expert enough opinion.
Professor Dingwall member of JCVI in an interview just aired on Sky News, says he is happy for restrictions to be dropped and will be happy to not social distance or wear a mask. He believes the evidence on both these activities is weak.
Woodstock - Don't misinterpret my point. I am simply pointing out that that your personal circumstances will undoubtedly influence your opinions. If your income is guaranteed, you will not be affected by lockdowns. If you own a bar or hospitality business, it will be. You can live in a cave forever if you wish, knock yourself out. The vast majority don't want to, not surprisingly. These experts are working on a worse case scenario which rarely comes true. I don't hear too many of these experts showing the same concern for the estimated 500k people who are expected to die as a direct result of these restrictions, that is where I have a problem and its completely justified.
TLWilliams - What I have noticed during the last year is that the people who's jobs are secure and in fact guaranteed are content for restrictions to stay. Not surprisingly the public and those whose businesses and jobs rely on restrictions easing have a slightly different take on things. Seems a bit odd to roll out such a vast vaccination programme only for it not to serve it's ultimate purpose, which was the return to normal life. Sadly, some of these experts would have us locked indoors for the rest of our lives if they got their way. Normality must return or we will all experience the equivalent of emerging after a nuclear attack, alive but with no lives to live.
Sharedealer - I have always had the view that if you need to go to the extreme side of an argument then you have already lost that argument. It's common sense that you would wear a mask in a covid ward, that doesn't mean that a mask is necessary everywhere else. As a property developer I would of course wear a hard hat on a site where there is works going on overhead but wouldn't wear one when in a room that is being painted. I must say I am a bit dubious about this report that 2 people passing each other fleetingly in the street gave one another covid. This would be impossible to conclusively prove. It's much more likely one already was infected and the other picked it up elsewhere.
