why ? We were always being told that Green Hydrogen could be generated from wind turbines when it is windy and then stored for later use.

This is not economically viable - the electrolyser needs to be run all day every day to get enough use out of it to make all the investment in its platinum electrodes worth the cost. What this project demonstrates is that even with the incredibly reliable and predictable energy generated by tidal power what the green hydrogen people need is an additional battery system to smooth out the twice daily generation peaks.

WInd turbines are significantly less predictable in their energy generation ( they generate something like 80% of their energy in only 20% of the days) and would need even greater energy storage from day to day and week to week to make the subsequent production of green hydrogen cost effective.

This is actually a really big deal.

The important thing is to see that Flow Batteries are not a competitor for Green Hydrogen generation, they are actually an ENABLER !

I'll give you a clue - because 1) he is right and 2) he would like to have a hundred or so MWh battery for his own project.
