RE: increasing Vametco capacity22 Jul 2018 08:25
This suggests a scenario which has rarely, if ever been considered here:- namely centering all the processing at Vametco, where the expertise is. And ship ore, or concentrate from Mokopane to Vametco for processing.
We have tended to focus on the acquisition of Vanchem as the obvious brownfield opportunity - however I guess it is still within the bounds of the 'brownfield' description to consider processing expansion at Vametco/Brits.
Whilst the expansion of Vametco to include extra new material mined from Brits might seem within the bounds of possibility I wonder if there really is enough physical space to expand the Vametco processing plant to a capacity of 10,000 tpaV, something like 3 times what it is now. Perhaps it is possible by locating new concentration plant for Brits and Mokopane at those sites, but with the later stages of salt roast processing undertaken centrally at the existing Vametco site.
Do others have a feel for the size of plant and spoil heaps involved in grinding and initial low field magnetic concentration ? Might this avoid the need to provide significant new salt roast infrastructure at new sites - after all the salt roast plant takes up 149M USD of the 222M USD Capex cost quoted in the Mokopane PFS (Table 1-19).
