MrRealistic,
the essential principles are the same for both the RedT VRFBs and the UET VRFBs which BMN is testing at Eskom. The primary difference is that UET uses a patented mixed acids electrolyte which has greater energy density and wider operational temperature range. The guys behind UET (Gary Yang et al) were the people who when at PNNL invented the Vanadium based mixed acids electrolyte. RedT's electrolyte is, I believe, essentially the classic single acid Vanadium electrolyte which Bushveld Energy will be making in future.
It is therefore not out of the bounds of possibility that Bushveld Energy will be supplying the c. 25,000 tonnes of electrolyte that RedT would need if they managed to get orders for all 700MWh of the energy storage projects that they announced today.
