Actually the Vanadium made from fly-ash is more expensive than the Vanadium we make so the origin is not the important point, though they sold it as that to try and make it simple for the people they wanted to invest.
The idea that they would have been getting 'dirty' Vanadium at half the price of everyone else is complete nonsense, for if it were so and I had a steel plant I would be buying it all up, and then some.
I'm afraid this was yet another example of the American we-don't-have-any-Vanadium-so-it-must-be-very-special-and-expensive angle.
