supposedly it is down to the brokers executing orders at the same time to get the best prices. So for example somebody wants to sell 50,000 shares but to sell that amount at once they would be offeredt £0.1775 but if the broker executes it 5 x 10,000 share sells then they may get £0.182 for the first lot of 10,000 then £0.181 for the next 10,000 and so on. Meaning they are getting more money for their sells.
