Jurisdictional risk -- Barrick26 Jan 2026 12:35
Good afternoon gang,
I've been mulling the movement in gold and more importantly what are the ramifications of the recent and sustained rise in hard assets
I was just reading about Barrick attempting to split into US based assets and ROW assets and wondered why they would be attempting this, now.
So the split is quite plainly based on the jurisdiction that their portfolio operates in, as I see it.
1.) Either they want the US assets sequestered from the non US ones.
(or)
2.) The want the non US assets sequestered from the US ones.
I think the first is more likely and that brings up why and why now.
At what price gold will re-nationalisation of gold assets in developing nations become a significant risk to an enterprise like Barrick? 5K, 8K, 10k?
Glad were safe and sound in Australia.
