I don't doubt what dsrt2012 was told, but would question the validity of suggestions that in the U.K. a Powered Station would need to be built for the sole purpose of supplying 300 homes?. The average household electricity bill in 2018 was £795 (I wished) which in total is not even a quarter of a million pounds. I could be wrong, but don't think there are any cases of Power Stations being built near small communities solely for that community in the U.K. Bearing in mind that Power Stations 'Generate' (nowadays to the grid) and the logistics for a Power Station are immense, and imho the suggestion is not proportional.
