Q, it's the terminology which confuses me. Does 'shorts available' equate to a short position, because it clearly states there is no short interest?

Incidentally, I share your view of the nature of their short and recall they made exactly the same mistake with GGP. Seemingly they managed to buy at more or less the market low and have seen nothing but an upward trend ever since. Maybe they should steer clear of small miners, or perhaps investors should use them as a handy guide as to the timing of their purchases.

The Fintel site states 10m shares are 'shorts available' and there are no shares registered as a 'short interest'. Seems a bit confusing to me.

250k shares. Not huge, but a start.

Q, the FCA still shows their short at 0.6%.

1) I didn't say it would be sold. My exact words were the gloves were off (yes, I do remember) Sure enough, a few months later BHP got rid of NM (please don't trot out your old line about his departure being a 'planned retirement')

2) I do agree that too many people have said we're about to sold, something which is still going on today.

3) If you think the de-risking comment is a 'straw man', you haven't been listening to the management.

1) The reason we couldn't sell it was all to do with the fact it wasn't de-risked with the result any offers which were indicated were far too low. The so-called diverse book had bugger all to with it.

2) Have you not been reading this board? Retail would head for the exit as soon as a decent offer is tabled.

I am loath to mention it, but I have experience on my side on this issue and have seen numerous examples where a takeover looks unlikely but cash on the table rapidly changed minds. The whole thing is a giant red herring.

Q, your diverse book argument would fall at the first hurdle.

The strategy is as clear as day; deliver the milestones and add value as a consequence, then talk to buyers again. One decent offer would trigger a mass exodus of shareholders. Hey presto! New owners.

Q, only one problem, the company hasn't mentioned production. Instead, it talks about development. The two are not synonymous.

At the risk of repeating myself...for the nth time, your prediction will ONLY be proved correct the day we produce the first ore and we are the majority owners. In my opinion, there's a zero chance of this happening.

RT, what caused you concern? Did you speak to him? Or did you base your opinion on the relative lack of public statements over the first few months?

This is a genuine question as I'm very keen too understand the perceptions of people who've had direct contact. I should add that I haven't spoken to DV and am relying on the reports of those I respect who have.

For me, this is a question of once-bitten-twice-shy. I never spoke or communicated with SC, or DC for that matter, and ended up making a very poor decision to support him. If I can avoid it, I don't want to repeat the mistake.

I think most people would share your frustration, me included. We've been incredibly badly served by the various iterations of management, but those people who I'm aware of who've spoken or communicated with either DV or PS are of the opinion they're of a completely different calibre.

You're absolutely right to say we could be in a better position and that there's more to do - in fact that's a considerable understatement. However, I don't share your observation about DV's position as NED as I recognise the considerable difference between the two roles, particularly when a Board is gripped by inertia and is so poorly led (bear in mind they couldn't be bothered to appoint a chairman for 18 months - or however long it was). As an NED you can shout as much as you want, but you're very much on the sidelines and are easily ignored - the position often carries very little weight unless you have the backing of the majority of your other Board colleagues.

Over time, the company has lost all market credibility, to such an extent that we're given no credit for owning one of the most important copper/gold discoveries in the world. DV and PS have a considerable task ahead of them to repair the damage that's been done, and it won't happen overnight. They need time, which we should give them.

Anyway, that's all history now and I believe we can rest assured DV's cracking on with the job with the full support of a proactive and highly capable chairman.

NMM, it's not often I disagree with you, but in this instance I really do feel you're being overly harsh.

DV inherited an unholy mess and it's going to take time to get ahead of the game. He's made a solid start - as is witnessed by the percentage increase in the sp since he became ceo. There's a long way to go, but he deserves credit for the progress so far.

It was formed for tax purposes in order to simplify a disposal.

RT, having completely mis-read SC, I'm pleased that my take on PS, and others views of DV, is, so far, being vindicated.

They appear to be coming at this with a degree of clarity and drive which has been missing for years. The clues where there in their backgrounds. Long may it continue.

It's also good to see they've consolidated ownership of 100% of Cascabel under Solgold AG, which was initially set up for tax purposes.

I wonder if her predictions will be any more accurate than her efforts over the past few years? If she is indeed Buffet's protege, I'd suggest anyone invested in Berkshire Hathaway should sell immediately...her track record is abysmal.
