the involvement with Shell and that company's diversification, do you guys think they are likely acquirers? Apologies if this has already been much discussed, but I'm new to this share.

spotopp, no, the article says the market will not be affected by the SQM news for some time. They cannot simply ramp up production. And yes, I do believe some of the smaller miners will be bought. Specifically, those which are low cost producers and are further down the line towards production i.e BCN. As you know, they are many explorers out there, all making claims to have vast resources etc. Quite a few of them haven't even reached PFS stage, let alone funding, customers etc, etc. And some are hampered by other issues, such as the political uncertainty at EMH (which is worth looking at once the issue has been clarified) BCN is the standout stock of the pre-production companies and has achieved everything it set out to do so far, with one outstanding issue...the funding, which will follow soon...assuming we are not bought out beforehand; which is a distinct possibility.

I should add; it's my opinion, and always has been, that BCN will be sold long before there's any question of lithium being challenged. Indeed, the link provided by coopgare to the Lithium Spot web site, gives you a very good feel to the pressures of consolidation and how well positioned BCN is in that context.

spotopp, there are endless articles on the web about this,many of which are beyond the grasp of a layperson such as me. However, from what I've been able to glean and if I were to take an 'average' view, the answer is yes, there are many technologies being worked on, some with greater chances of success than others, and that it will take time to get there. Lithium has many qualities that can't be replicated and there will be a place for it for years to come. My view is that the pace of technological change is so rapid and so much money is being spent of the RE space, that we will see new stuff appearing quicker than people think. However, the lithium industry has many years to run (as does the oil industry) As a kind of hedge, I'm also invested in ITM and that is well worth a look.

coopgare, thank you for this. I confess I hadn't seen it before and the site makes for fascinating reading. Their overall thrust is clear; it's all about consolidation.

BTW, I wonder why RTZ walked away from the potential deal with SQM?

What an interesting article. What was the source? It sort of lays out a pretty clear exit strategy for BCN and massively emphasises the importance of our off-take deals. It seems to be arguing our 'window' is a couple of years and I have no doubt our board will be highly tuned into this. Consolidation here we come!

PP, I have absolutely no problem with someone having and voicing a contrary opinion to mine...indeed, it's extremely important to hear them. However, those opinions should have some basis in fact, logic and intelligence. Sadly, your IQ is so small that even the Hadron B Collider couldn't detect it.

Wolf, you seem to be implying that this is 1) a bad thing and ,2) a surprise. This may come as a huge shock, but they've got to build a mine and generally speaking, this tends to cost money. If you want a real discussion about the possible size/structure of the potential funding, there was some good analysis from both Observer and Tomcat over on the KDNC page a week or so ago. The truth is, we don't know what form it will take; whether it will be all debt, or part equity and debt. If there's an equity element, none of us have the faintest idea at what price it will be issued.

It's funny; about fifteen minutes ago I was about to post on here that this was the first day for ages where we hadn't seen any price movement (as those of us who've been here for a while will know,we could go weeks on end with virtually no movement at all) I must have this thought more often.

If I were you I'd do a bit of basic research. Everything you need to know is contained in the FS, which can be found on the company's web site.
