It seems to me part of the problem for a certain type of private investor is that they have no idea how companies actually work. They seem to expect new announcements at least once a week and start wetting themselves if none appear. Companies simply don't work like that. Most of the time life is fairly humdrum and they simply get on with the day job until they have some actual news which necessitates a regulatory announcement.

And then we have idiots like Gingy who appear on these boards making absurd statements about 'things not going to plan'. The bloke doesn't even know what the plan is, so how he knows it's going wrong is a complete mystery.

If you believe in the story, sit back and let it unfold. If you have no faith in the team or our prospects, sell - you'll avoid a lot of stress in your life.

No there aren't. Three or four hundred thousand shares are not large. In fact, in the context of 2.2bn, they're tiny.

Novice, yes, I'm very happy with what's been happening here so far. I bought a lot of shares with some of my solg cash at an average 2.6p and have plenty of cash sitting idle, some of which will be used here if there's a retrace. I just wish I'd seen it earlier and had invested at fractions of a penny like so many folk here...and well done to them for sticking it out!

Novice, good to see you full of your usual exuberance (£1 tomorrow morning!), but to suggest investors in the US are queuing up to invest here is stretching things a bit. Frankly, I'd be surprised if anyone over there has even heard of the company.

In any event, it's doing well enough without US help.

Meldrew, agreed. Future funding will be via placings, debt of some description, and hopefully a Rights Issue allowing retail investors the opportunity to ameliorate the dilutive effects of the placings, although it would likely be limited in size.

Having said that, this assumes we are sill an independent entity at that point, which is by no means guaranteed.

Meldrew, it wouldn't, but, if I've understood him correctly, he didn't appear to be suggesting a full de-merger. Instead, he was talking about a move to the main market and the sale of 20% of CRL which, of course, is not a de-merger.

London, he seems to be suggesting an immediate uplift simply by moving to the main market and persuading institutions to buy shares at twice the current value. It isn't going to happen and Davidious's post is far more logical.

I'm afraid I'm struggling to understand what you're suggesting. Why do you think the market would suddenly value Redmoor at 400m when it currently values it at 180m? Simply moving to the main market would not immediately imply a doubling in the m/c.

Why would we have an IPO when we're already listed? BTW, it's not a demerger you're describing, it's simply a sale of 20% of Redmoor.

DBWN, it's very encouraging that Manners has a decent holding. It would be good to see Burnett buy some, but given he's still relatively young it's possible he doesn't have the spare cash.

Once SPA have released their report it's to be hoped they'll get out in the market and push the shares to a wider range of institutions. There's a great story to sell and they should be shouting from the rooftops.

HL's position reflects private shareholders holdings, as does IGM, and I suspect there are quite a few other nominee holders referred to as institutions.

BG, agreed, institutions are preferable to trade investors any day of the week, provided they're not in cahoots with a management team which has a malign agenda.

I also agree with your comment about the integrity of this team, however, I maintain a general sceptisism towards most management teams, particularly in the mining sector. Caveat emptor, etc.

NewOrmy, it happened at solg and was done in two ways: First, they issued new shares to the eventual buyer by way of two placings, including selling shares held by the company, and second, they made a big effort to bring a number of institutions on board via market purchases.

By the time the deal was announced it was a done deal.
