I will not claim to understand fully as none of this sort of thing existed when I was involved in public company CF, and my later involvement was more or less limited to private companies. Life was simpler in those days.
In your opinion does this explain one of the options contained in the SR i.e to spin-off the other assets thus leaving Alpala as a stand-alone asset? In other words making it simpler to sell in due course, but also sending a clear signal of intent in the short term.

The DC situation is interesting. It's incredibly rare that a CEO resorts to an Industrial Tribunal; in fact the last one I can think of which became news was of that bloke who ran the AA and got sacked for lamping an employee at a works function. He lost.
Whatever happened with DC was very quick and must have been highly acrimonious. One minute he was leading the merger, the next he was gone. I'd love to know what happened - maybe the details will emerge if it does get to a Tribunal.

Although I don't have to justify myself to you, I will concede one thing '81 and that is, over the years I have spent a lot of time on this site, and there's a reason for that. I'm a retiree and nowadays I make my living from investing. During that time this site has provided numerous interesting tips and information. Obviously I don't take what's on here as gospel, nor is it my only source of info - far from it -but there are some good contributors who often offer constructive alternative views on things, which I find very useful. Sadly, thus far, you do not fit that category. I suppose I could also ask how you find the time during the working day to post at all? As a young man still clawing his way to the top, I'd have thought you're far too busy to bother with a bunch of old folk on here?

'81, my view, and always has been, is that there will be an agreed deal which may, or may not, lead to an attempted third party intervention. If you're asking about the mechanism, who knows? Based upon your posts you most certainly don't. I have said on numerous occasions the timing is unknowable and as Quady says, things will only become clearer once we have seen the outcome of the SR.

I think you need to look at how this 'exchange' started. I asked the question and he refused to reply, instead choosing to deflect. The classic tactic of someone who's been rumbled.

The pubs were incredibly socially diverse (should be up Q's street) and everyone mixed. There were some great characters in the days when pubs were pubs and not tarted-up gastro joints with planks of wood instead of plates.

Jerry, the delectable Mrs Tracey Levett used to do the school run in a chauffeur driven Bentley. She and Ashley were pure Essex, whereas Vincent was the smooth public school boy. I liked Tracey and she ended up owning one of my local boozers. I think Vincent moved to Monaco.
