BBG, the very last thing a company wants prior to any form of corporate activity is a depressed share price.

It's been going on for far too long for that to be the reason.

I've never bought into stories of manipulation, but the pattern of trading over many months has made me question the situation.

We know Caldwell and Sangha have raised eyebrows at what's been going on, but I wonder if our broker has ever approached the Exchange requesting an investigation? Normally if a company does this it warrants an RNS, but there are also plenty of occasions when unofficial investigations take place. In fact, the process is part of daily life for what used to be known as the LSE Monitoring Unit (I'm sure it's called something else these days)

If SC hasn't requested such an investigation, surely it would be worth it? I can't think of any other share I'm invested in which has anything like the daily pattern of trading we experience and it feels very far from being routine.

There are no shorters with a significant position. There may be a few small punters like the bloke crowing on here the other day - that went well for him, didn't it?- but the only short of declarable size, closed a few weeks ago.

The CEO has given details of why they chose the six projects they're going to get rid of. The key criterium is that those they wish to keep are Tier 1 - GGP doesn't currently meet that hurdle, hence it's up for sale. We however, do.

I think we can put this discussion to bed. The government will not be investing, nor providing loans, for Cascabel. They will however, be providing certain assurances and protections, which is excellent news and is a critical catalyst for the company as well as making us all the more attractive to the various interested parties. Yesterday was a very important day for the company and signals the government's absolute commitment to the project, and it is to be hoped they will. now get on with granting us the various outstanding licences etc.

Thanks, Pbow. This confirms my view and it's simply the case that some elements of the press completely misunderstood the announcement.

BBG, I was just re-reading the RNS and the third paragraph seems to make it clear that it's us who are committing to invest 3.2bn, not the government. By way of comfort they are providing us with various protections which will be an extension of those currently contained in the existing IPA.

BBG, perhaps we'll get more detail once the full and final agreement has been signed.

Eloro, good try! It must be galling for you to now realise SC is working flat out and is delivering on his promises.

It appeared in one of the press articles which someone posted on here yesterday.

But how does that square with the statement that the government will not be committing to any direct expenditure? Protection, yes, but direct funding?

Before you accuse me of deramping, I'm not. It's just that I think we'd all like a better understanding of what the announcement really means and the implications for us.

Does anyone actually believe that this article is accurate?

Q, may be right in as much as the government may be guaranteeing the sum, but again we don't know that as fact.

My own view is that they've agreed to offer investment protection in the same way as the previous IPA, but they will not be investing directly, nor will they be guaranteeing any loans. However, it's obviously a great demonstration of confidence which I imagine was bolstered by whatever it is we have told the government and which is, as yet, undisclosed to shareholders.

Further clarity is required.
