Concerning Marketing, some things that need to be considered:
MelodyVR is a start up with a current MCAP of £83 million.
MelodyVR will have a VERY limited budget, of which marketing no doubt will be a very small percentage.
Celebrity Tweets, endorsements and promotions come at a cost when that celebrity / artist is ‘in demand’.
We have to be mindful that we also have the cost/s associated to another 2 ‘live’ studios to consider.
In an ideal world, an artists is plugging any forthcoming event daily but if such ‘plugs’ are what, 40k per post. Melody at this time cannot afford such luxuries and therefore, I see the timing of that JL almost perfect, a couple hours before the event, a Saturday early evening in the US. I’d take that over any tweet a couple days beforehand which potentially could be forgotten about. People want things ‘now’, not later or in a week.
Sure, there will be artists out there that probably will tweet and give more PR to MVR but that’s when the MVR perhaps has more to offer them.
JL appearing was massively to the benefit of Melody, so it would have had its inherent costs. Without knowing app downloads and viewing figures from the event, hard to draw a conclusion but can we say that Melody has ever had this much coverage or press to date? I’d say no. That JL post has something like 130k views alone, big numbers and I foresee the names week by week only getting bigger or equal to the the Quality and Class of John Legend.
A very successful weekend hands down for a company with an MCAP of £83 million.
