I was having another read through the December quarterly report and notice that we have promoted Mark Benson to the position of Telfer General manager in January so it seems like the end was nigh for Simon Tyrell at that stage anyway.
Looking through his history on LinkedIn you can see he is a vastly experienced mining professional with metallurgy and management experience - who had a stint at Telfer between 2004/2007 as the Senior Plant Metallurgist - safe to say he would have been heavily involved in the improved efficiencies and recoveries we have being seeing at Telfer since Greatland too over.

• Commissioned the new 17Mtpa processing plant consisting of Crushing, SABC Grinding, Gravity (Falcon with Knelson Concentrators and Gekko Intensive Leach Reactor later included), Flash Flotation, Copper and Pyrite Flotation, Larox Pressure Filtering, Tails Thickening, Pyrite Leaching, CCD and SART circuits.
• Supervised 5 metallurgists as well as assisting with Metallurgical Lab supervision as required.
• Provided technical assistance to the Operations team, both at an operator and supervisor level, including setting operating parameters, giving feedback on unit performance and delivering operator training.
• Acted as Ore Processing manager on numerous occasions, assuming responsibility for the Operations and Metallurgy departments.
• Conducted initial test work, assisted in the design, commissioned and operated the retrofitted Knelson concentrator circuit, and the Intensive Cyanidation/Carbon in Column circuits.
• Implementation and management of various process optimisation projects and cost saving initiatives including acoustic monitoring of the SAG mills, trailing of ceramic parts in the primary hydrocyclones, and flocculation trials in the Intensive Leach circuit.
• Identified and prioritised process control optimisation opportunities, including contract management of the site process control contractor.
• Completed production planning including developing the weekly ore blend.
• Completing daily metallurgical accounting, as well as reviewing and approving the monthly metallurgical accounting.
I think with both Mark and Otto at the helm we are in good hands and rude health going forward
