Personally, I rather fancy Merck to be the winner in the race for Avacta as that company has consistently maintained a top position amongst major farmers for many years (so they are good at succession planning?) and 2-4 years sounds about right to get AVA6000 into the breast cancer market and AVA6103 steaming through trials.

But it could be any of them.

Also a ~15% return for five straight years would double the initial investment and treble it in eight years. Avacta couldn't match that now - 5 years ago the share price was 150p, but that would be averaged down if, as stated, no more shares were bought until the recent ~30p price was reached.

Will he double his average price after five years? Will he treble it after a further three years?

My average after 4½ years is 96.5p. Will the share price have doubled to 193p by February (5 years invested)? Will it have trebled to 290p by February 2029 (8 years invested)? I'm comfortable with my investment.

@Bella, that's a fallacous argument and, to what should be no one's surprise, you have fooled several board members.

"Avacta right now has no way of funding the Research/Trials for own products to market..." is just not relevant because when a major signs a deal the major takes on the cost of clinical development in return for a share of the sales, or some other arrangement. I'm not saying it would be that way for Avacta and I'm not saying there won't be a royalty agreement with Healthcare Royalties, just that you seem blinkered by your intuition. The fact is, no one knows what deal(s) is/are being lined up. Personally, I would prefer the kudos of a major taking a stake but I don't make predictions that are beyond hopes - now there's a challenge for one of the Sherlocks to go through my posting history.

@Safebreaker, (nearly) all governments are corrupt to some extent, including democracies, but autocracies are a whole different level of corruption (and associated incompetence). Best to get money, particularly foreign money, out of the media and electoral system but that's not going to happen unless social media is stamped down on, but a democracy would never dare impose such a restriction on liberty. The bottom line.. we're all lost to mankind's greed for power, money and influence.

A good book which explains clearly how politics works, not just in dictatorships or democracies but also in boardrooms (see CC's manoeuvring since she became CEO for example) and international organisations such as FIFA and the IOC is 'The Dictator's Handbook: Why bad behavior is almost always good politics'.

@Bella, maybe, maybe not, I'm not fussed. But you were saying "the use of high speed computers, algorithums and AI mean that trades can be transacted in nano seconds...if 2 large trades are put through and then one is immediately cancelled" but why would it be 'a mistake' if it was being controlled by an algorithm working on, actually, fractions of a nanosecond and not by manual entry?

@Harrogate, AstraZeneca already has a US listing but the main listing is in London and there are no current plans (that is, no announcement) to just list in the US. Maybe you were thinking of the investment announced last week? - Significant investments in US manufacturing and research facilities, totalling $50 billion by 2030.

I can only assume that Bill Tap is giving an extra presentation during the dead period at the end of the first day of the conference. Expecting a lot of interest? Hopefully!

The ESMO conference takes place just before the next Heights repayment on Tuesday, 21st October. That makes for very tight timing to get the latest Phase 1a data out in time to entice HNWIs and improve the share price. The news shouldn't be publicly available until trading starts on Monday, 20th and that creates an issue for raising cash from a private placing. Will Avacta pay in cash and then do a private placing, or do the private placing before the latest Phase 1a data is publicly available (with consequent questions about insider information), or will Avacta do a bigger placing after ESMO (and also after possible data about AVA6103 and AVA7100 presented at AACR-NCI-EORTC immediately after ESMO)?

In the meantime we will have the interims at the end of September, with possible Phase 1b news then, or earlier, and there is always the possibility of news of funding from licensing and/or partnering and/or other dropping at any time which would obviate the need for a placing of any kind.
