You're looking at the profile for "mickb". I am looking at the profile for "mick-b". Both have lloyds posts, but "mick-b" is the mick who is the subject of concern here. I see Troajan has helpfully given a link.

Irrespective of the content, your near two hundred word post @16:59 only has two instances of inverted commas used to imply emphasis. This is a massive improvement and makes it so much easier to read.

The date given for his last post was 25th September '24. It's true, the last post showing under the "share chat" column is dated 28th March '24 but really what could he have been barred for? Does LSE actually ban anyone? The bar cant really get any lower, looking at the stuff that gets posted and left here. You can see a post he made 25th Sept 24 under "general chat" / help and support where he asks "I can see an option to delete the entire portfolio, but not items within it, is this possible?".

Yes, I remember Ros Altmann did the same thing and I totally get what you mean about selling if life expectancy is lowered through illness or long term impairment etc. The trouble is I wouldn't trust myself trying to manage that much money :) Ill probably keep it as final salary as I dont have kids, but I suspect in your situation I would try and do exactly the same. What a total bummer that Labour now want to steal it off your kids. I understand the motivation to leave the UK. Three of my life long friends are now living in Spain, Italy and America respectively. They are not especially rich, but they are some of the happiest people I know. Best of luck.

Couldn't help read that and think "why the f*ck not?". Thinking about it more, I am guessing that a lot of it could be tied up in house equity and a pension pot. I suppose I could claim I'm worth a million as I have about £600k equity and a pretty good final salary pension. But I have to live somewhere, Im 58 and I still owe £60k; I have almost no disposable income, I drive a twenty year old car and I've not had a holiday since 2019. Then again, I am massively wealthy compared to the guy begging outside the supermarket. I think thats the real issue, the sheer breadth of inequality between the richest and the poorest in the UK makes it hard to identify as rich. Even when there is no longer any danger of ever becoming poor, there are always people considerably wealthier than we are. So we label them 'rich' and think we're just doing allright ourselves. I wonder how much we all think is really enough?

Its about 71p a share for a £43B market cap. I enjoyed your optimistic post yesterday signalling a possible SP of £1.34 by Jan 27. That would remove an awful lot of anxiety from my life. But it comes down to earth with a bump to remember that would require a market value for Lloyds of over £81B.

Ive always stayed with HL since I started buying in 2011. However they are very expensive, particularly for smaller pots. I opened an iWeb account as they seemed to be massively cheaper on both the monthly and trading fees. Since getting that far I have subsequently been too lazy to transfer anything over :)

I haven't used much of the iWeb functionality to be able to tell you about it, but one downside is they dont seem to pay any interest on cash in a stocks and shares account, whereas HL do.

Personally I cant see any reason to attribute any of this to Labour, but its really encouraging to see a buoyant LBG share price. Its currently within touching distance of 62.5p which is a fantastic sight. A welcome contrast to CBG, which is confounding commentators with a 5% loss today.
