Oil business in Ecuador taken into state ownership, from Shell & Texaco. Now has a terrible safety & environmental record. The mining industry is going the same way. Chinese very active.
My guess, the Institutions don't like the investment, so the steady drop in Newcrest's share price is not all gold price related.
Doesn't matter to GGP? Newcrest would be a cheap purchase for a Major Major, especially with what's to come in a very safe Australia.

Could be down to location, S. American govt's track record of nationalisation?

Yes, it's the share that makes me lazy, haven't been looking elsewhere for over 4 weeks. May just take a couple of years off, suppose you can retire from trading. Been at it since 2005, best year ever 2020. Worst year ever for everything else. Would say roll on 2021, but so much more to come this year.

Not quite a fortune, but some interesting Geo.V1 coins, loads of silver crowns, ironic after what I said! Some USA silver dollars and half dollars. Most likely valuable several East India Co. coins. Looks like we will be taking another trip to Chard's. Big Thank You!
