Ninetails, yes when I started work in 65 they were still running a 1948 Scammell with a 6LW and when the battery was not up to it on a cold morning it had a huge starting handle permanently attached but not engaged through the front bumper, we would engage it and position it to the top and attach a rope to the handle and two blokes could start it with one pull, amazing

Ninetails, absolutely agree, my family were in heavy haulage for years in Lancashire. My uncle drove a Scammell 8 wheeler with a Gardner 6LW during WW ll and due to bad fuel and an almost complete lake of servicing they needed to replace a piston and rod but due to the military having first call on all spares they they could not get one for love nor money. So they removed the damaged piston and rod, blanked off the oil hole in crank pin and wired back the toggle on the inline fuel pump to cut of the corresponding injector and it ran as a five cylinder for the duration of the war up hill and down dale !! beautiful internals with every thing polished.

Ninetails , served my time on Gardner diesels with my older brother in the sixties, been round the factory in Patricroft near Manchester many times, I think they packed in making engines sometime in the nineties , superb engineering, sad loss especially to the local economy at the time .

Persi, my point is, that in my humble opinion RBD will not go the same way as Rockhopper because they are very different beasts with a hole load of different circumstances involved, and hopefully we will soon see!

Persi, I think there is very little to compare between Rockhopper and WN or lessons to be learned. Rockhopper are offshore in the wild South Atlantic for gods sake with hostile neighbours threatening to sue any major getting involved !!

persimmon, yes clearly some of those sites are very close to domestic housing, not sure which came first the dwelling or the well pad? but then so are their 6 ltr gas guzzling pickups on every driveway !!

deemule, thankfully due to low operating costs it seems they were still in profit even when the oil price tanked but of course not enough profit to move forward with more drilling. That has now changed however and although there is somewhat of a lag in getting the new price, they said this will improve quickly providing the oil price stays strong. This will now allow them to reappraise the portfolio in Cali and think about about drilling the next well ! GLA

Got mine answered fairly early on regards Parta & Cali, pretty much as expected but good to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak, should mean increased oil price revenue will move California forward at last! GLA.
