But.....like I said a few days ago, Mr market crunches the numbers long term once the initial exuberance has declined a little. I'm not saying, for a moment, this couldn't be a cracking play but gold is on its arse, new aths US indices and it's a long term play. I'm quite bearish on the overall market (check my history) so I see a trade in gold but it is not the dogs at this stage in the cycle :-)

There are the scalping bots, but there's no 'they' Imo. On a less liquid SETS traded stock where it's in a range of sorts a single determined traded on DMA can move the price significantly but they won't do it against the trend, argument against ill conceived short positions.

That may feel a slightly contradictory statement but it's a him/her argument rather than a they. It's also worth looking at the RSP/SETS proportions. Rsp may cover through SETS but there is more latitude time wise as the mms can remain short or long pretty much at their leisure without covering

Once the blue was breached I reckoned I could draw the new steeper trend in and it looked a bit of a foregone conclusion

I've had a breakout line drawn on the Dow for weeks now, the blue at 1 and it breached it yesterday, just saying cos the asset bubble in the US just keeps going. This is yesterdays chart, the theory being that it's a breakout to a new trading range with the possibility of taking out the ath.

There's quite a predictable symmetry to BOOs movements in uptrends and downtrends. If for a moment we assume the trend has changed then it has got a little ahead of itself already. The caveat to that is the results and the possibility it may loop up a bit more before testing the new support. My money is tending towards a couple days consolidation.

Bloody good point, I think there is a gel as well but fundamentals not my strong point as, apparently, neither are techs after that aborted attempt at knife catching today
