Workspace Group gets planning permission for Hackney redevelopment

(ShareCast News) - FTSE 250 listed property investment trust Workspace Group has been granted planning permission for the Mare Street Studios redevelopment in north east London.Workspace will refurbish the Hackney site by upgrading the existing space and adding a rooftop extension and the new 55,000 square foot business centre will contain a café, meeting rooms, cycle storage, showers and communal areas.The £9.4m development less than 200 meters from London Fields train station has 39,000 square feet of office and industrial space.Chief executive Jamie Hopkins, said: "Hackney has become a very attractive area for our customers and we are delighted to have achieved planning consent to create a new business centre that will meet the demand in this exciting location."We continue to deliver on our pipeline of refurbishment projects to upgrade the quality of our portfolio and add superior value to shareholders over the long term."
