Upgraded crude unit not shut at BP Whiting refinery -sources

HOUSTON, Feb 12 (Reuters) - An upgraded crude distillationunit has not been shut down at BP Plc's 405,000 barrel per day(bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery on Wednesday, said sourcesfamiliar with operations at the refinery.

Energy industry intelligence service Genscape reported 260,000 bpd Pipestill 12, the centerpiece of a recentlycompleted $4-billion revamp of the refinery, shut down onWednesday morning.

The sources said the unit was not out of production and noshutdown had been planned for the unit. (Reporting by Erwin Seba)
