UK GAS-Prices mostly down on soft demand, ramp-up of domestic supply

LONDON, July 15 (Reuters) - British wholesale gas prices
mostly largely declined on Thursday morning due to softer demand
and as domestic production was expected to increase.

* The day-ahead contract was down 1.10 pence at
84.50
pence per therm by 0839 GMT.

* The September contract fell by 3.65 pence to
84.40
p/therm.

* Temperatures in Britain are rising and could reach 30
degrees
Celsius in some parts of the country at the weekend, with more
warm weather expected through July and August, the Met Office
said.

* UK gas demand was forecast at 138.2 million cubic metres
(mcm),
25 mcm below the seasonal norm, National Grid data showed.
Supply was forecast at 134.6 mcm, leaving the system slightly
under-supplied.

* "Soft day-ahead gas demand, particularly in the UK, should
further weigh on prompt prices traded on both NBP and TTF hubs,"
Refinitiv gas analyst Katarzyna Piaskowska said.

* She said flows from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) were
forecast to rise to 84-85 mcm on Friday from 69 mcm on Thursday,
with Bacton SEAL and Perenco Bacton expected to resume full
production by Saturday.

* Flows from Norway will likely fall, however, as
maintenance
begins at the Troll field on Friday, she said.

* Peak wind generation is forecast at 7.1 gigawatts (GW) on
Thursday and 5.2 GW on Friday, Elexon data showed. Lower wind
output typically raises demand for gas to generate power.

* The August UK contract was up 0.60 pence at 84.10 p/therm.

* Europe's top court on Thursday rejected a German appeal
against
a ruling limiting Gazprom's access to the OPAL pipeline linking
the Russian gas producer's Nord Stream pipeline to Germany.

* "Now it will be difficult to run both Nord Stream and Nord
Stream 2 at the full capacity even if the utilization of Nord
Stream 2 is approved. The latter yet to be decided by European
Commission. This announcement provides a clear bullish signal to
the market," Refinitiv's Piaskowska said.

* The month-ahead Dutch gas contract was up
0.88 euro
at 34.35 euros per megawatt hour.

* The benchmark Dec-21 EU carbon contract was 1.16
euros
down at 52.21 euros a tonne.
