Shares in Scottish semiconductors group Wolfson slumped as it cautioned sales are running below last year and won't pick up in the fourth quarter.'Second half revenue forecasts and order backlog have been adversely affected by a faster than anticipated shift in product mix at a major customer,' it said. 'Overall visibility of end customer demand remains poor, with very short lead times and volatile ordering patterns,' it added.Traditionally, the order backlog for the fourth quarter builds at an earlier stage than for the other calendar quarters, but this year it is line with both the second and third quarters.Wolfson has suffered from its chips not being used in Apple's new iPhone 3GS, even though they were in the original iPhone. Recession has also affected sales of other chip-based consumer products such as DVD players, digital radios, televisions and cameras.Wireless equipment tester Anite is among today's fallers. This morning, the group announce the appointment of Paul Taylor as a non-executive director. From March 2001 to date, Taylor held the position of finance director with Aveva, an engineering IT software provider to the plant, power and marine industries.
