Symphony Environmental Reports Departure Of Chair Nirj Deva

Fri, 08th Nov 2019 10:58

(Alliance News) - Symphony Environmental Technologies PLC said on Friday Nirj Deva has resigned as chair and director of the company with immediate effect.

The company, which develops additives to make ordinary plastic biodegradable, said Deva resigned to concentrate commercially on his extensive global connections, following the end of his tenure as a member of European Parliament.

However, Deva will continue serving the company as special ambassador and in this new role he will "focus mainly on his high-level connections and seek to unlock and create additional revenues for Symphony", the company said.

Non Executive Director Nicolas Clavel will act as interim chair until a new chair is appointed.

Michael Laurier, chief executive officer, said: "His departure as chairman however provides the company with an opportunity to appoint a new individual to provide fresh impetus at this exciting time with more governments legislating against the manufacture of non-biodegradable plastics."

Symphony Environmental shares were up 0.6% in London at 7.90 pence each on Friday.
