Surgical Innovations Gets Approval For Hernia Mesh Fixation Device

Fri, 30th May 2014 08:40

LONDON (Alliance News) - Surgical Innovations Group PLC Friday said it has received CE approval for its hernia mesh fixation device which was developed for Advanced Medical Solutions Group PLC.

CE approval is required by the European Union for many products sold in the Europe and the UK and certifies that it meets safety, health and environmental rules.

The device aims to accurately deliver individual drops of cyanoacrylate adhesive internally within the body, giving a surgeon precision and control for the first time.

Surgical Innovations said the laparoscopic application of adhesives to attach hernia meshes is expected to reduce surgical complications and in particular the potential pain associated with the use of tacks and staples, thereby improving the patient experience and reducing healthcare costs overall.

Surgical Innovations shares were quoted up 0.9% at 4.79 pence.
