Thu, 22nd Sep 2016 07:39

LONDON (Alliance News) - Cyber security firm Sophos Group PLC on Thursday said a US jury has ruled it infringed on the patents of Finjan Inc and has awarded a damages payment to Finjan.

The FTSE 250 firm said the jury in the lawsuit brought by Finjan, a US company which owns patents used in a number of web security applications, decided Sophos had infringed on five patents owned by Finjan.

As a result, the jury awarded Finjan a one-time damages payment of USD15.0 million.

Sophos said the verdict is the next step in an ongoing process, and it will consider its options, including appealing the decision.

Sophos shares were down 2.4% at 256.70 pence on Thursday after the annoucement.
