Sensyne Welcomes Patient Data Use Endorsement From UK Government

Wed, 05th Dec 2018 13:28

LONDON (Alliance News) - Sensyne Health PLC said Wednesday it welcomed the UK government's second Life Sciences Sector Deal and a consultation for a national health data policy.

The government endorsed the "potential of analysing anonymised NHS patient data in an ethical way to improve patient care and accelerate medical research".

Sensyne Health - a healthcare technology company which generates value from anonymised patient data - said it has submitted a proposal to the government and "looks forward to continuing to help shape a national health data policy".

Sensyne said it is working with "a set of experts" with the capabilities in computing, data analytics and systems integration to help deliver the strategy.

The company said the UK government recognising that combining datasets geographically and along patient pathway of care "may unlock more value than the current dispersed and locally delegated model of health data management".

Sensyne believes it could "increase the ability of researchers to develop actionable insights, which, in turn would help with government priorities on prevention, care and costs".

"Linking data-sets both geographically and longitudinally along the patient pathway offers the potential of a significant increase in the number and value of insights that can be derived to improve patient care and accelerate medical research," said Chief Executive Paul Drayson.

"We believe our existing 'double bottom line' model working in partnership with the NHS is an excellent foundation for a national strategy that builds a sovereign capability in data-driven healthcare and look forward to continued discussions with government."

Shares in Sensyne Health were down 2.9% Wednesday at 165.08 pence each.
