Sector movers: Insurers head lower

Insurers were among the worst performers of the day, as the broader financial sector was weighed down by concerns over rising bond yields in Italy and Spain.FTSE 100 life insurance peers Prudential, Legal & General and Resolution were among the heaviest fallers on the blue chip index, while Phoenix and St. James's Place took a hit on the FTSE 250.The health care equipment and services category was the best performer with replacement hip-making giant Smith & Nephew providing a lift.The stock was among the highest risers on the FTSE 100 in the afternoon after Exane BNP Paribas upped its recommendation on the stock from neutral to outperform.
