Mon, 18th Jun 2018 12:59

LONDON (Alliance News) - West Africa-focused oil and gas company Savannah Petroleum PLC said on Monday it has appointed Non-Executive Director David Clarkson as chief operating officer.

He will take responsibility for the company's technical and operational activities, including Health, Safety, Security and Environment, capital investment plans, work programme, budget and development projects delivery.

Prior to Savannah, Clarkson was chief operating officer at oil explorer BowLeven PLC for three years from 2014 to 2017, however retired after the role was eliminated. Prior to that, he held several roles over a 34 year period at FTSE 100-listed BP PLC, notably senior vice president for Projects and Engineering in the Upstream business.

"I am delighted to announce the appointment of David Clarkson as COO. David has a wealth of international oil and gas experience, and we look forward to his contribution as we work towards both the creation of a potential R3 East early production scheme in Niger and the full integration of the Seven Assets in Nigeria into our business," said Chairman Steve Jenkins.

Shares in Savannah Petroleum were down 1.1% at 31.50 pence on Monday.
