Wed, 26th Jan 2011 14:51

Engineer Hamworthy expects 'significantly' to exceed previous earnings expectations for the year to March after strong demand for after sales products and services, an increase in order intake from the oil and gas market and a reduction in the instances of customers delaying delivery dates. "It remains too early to predict whether these effects will continue into the following financial year," Hamworthy added.Underwriter Amlin has acquired J R Clare Underwriting Agencies Limited from Mr John Clare. JCUA is a managing general agent which sources approximately £30m of UK household and commercial insurance premium income. Amlin UK will underwrite 100% of JCUA's business going forward. Meggitt has been awarded two contracts from BAE Systems as part of the Indian Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer programme. Worth over £5m in total, the pressure gauges, pressure transducers, accelerometers, cabin altimeters, hydraulic pressure indicators and altitude pressure switches will be manufactured by Meggitt Avionics in Fareham, UK.IT systems group SciSys performed better than expected in the second half of its trading year despite the prevailing uncertain and difficult market conditions. As a result it expects to report adjusted EBITA for the year ahead of market expectations and an improvement in net operating margin. "The company continues to trade well and entered into 2011 with a comfortable order book across all business sectors," SciSys added.HR consultancy Savile is carrying out a restructuring of the business after a disappointing performance in the first half. Shares fell by 14% on Wednesday afternoon after its chief executive of over six years, Michael Moran, stepped down from the board.Savile is expected to report an overall loss for the first half ended December, as its outplacement business continues to suffer in difficult market conditions. Also, the group says the expected business from the public sector has not yet materialised due to a delay in local and central governmental decisions.
