REUTERS NEXT-European health regulator chief says EU needs more say in securing access to new drugs

BARCELONA, April ​22 (Reuters) - ⁠The head ​of the European Medicines ​Agency ‌Emer Cooke ⁠said on Wednesday ⁠that ​the European Union should be given the ​remit ‌to get more involved in securing access ​to newly ‌approved drugs, an area where ‌member states are currently in charge.

"We need ​more Europe," said EMA ‌Executive Director Cooke, speaking at the ⁠Reuters ⁠Pharma Europe ‌2026 event in ​Barcelona.
