LightwaveRF Files Patent For New Radiator Valve Product

Mon, 11th May 2015 08:01

LONDON (Alliance News) - LightwaveRF PLC Monday said it has filed its third patent application this year, this time covering a super smart thermostatic radiator valve product.

The creator of devices for the so-called Internet of Things, which will allow householders to control devices like lighting, power and heating remotely, said its new radiator valve reduces battery consumption and operating noise.

"One of the biggest challenges for smart radiator valve manufacturers is battery life. Our new innovation will, we believe, give up to five times the battery life compared to other products currently on the market. This will be a major benefit particularly in commercial applications," Chief Technical Officer John Shermer said.

"The valve will also operate silently in a similar way to conventional valves consumers are used to. This will be significantly different to other products on the market that typically rely solely on motor driven valves for remote control," he added.

The company's shares were down 1.0% at 40.60 pence Monday morning.
