LightwaveRF Files Patent Application For Boiler Energy Monitor

Wed, 04th Mar 2015 09:12

LONDON (Alliance News) - Smart home products company LightwaveRF PLC Wednesday said it has filed a patent application for a boiler energy monitor, a device which it said allows the monitoring of the energy consumption of domestic combi boilers.

LightwaveRF, which makes remotely controlled domestic devices and systems, said the device can be retro fitted to existing boilers and will monitor in real-time the energy consumption of most combi boilers. It said the system will also report on the number of hours the boiler has run and allow for better maintenance scheduling.

"Consumers will be able to monitor their gas consumption on an ongoing basis rather than be surprised by large gas bills at the end the month. This will allow then to make decisions daily about how to heat their home," said Chief Technical Officer John Shermer in a statement.

LightwaveRF shares were up 5.6% at 41.70 pence Wednesday morning.
